About trying to get closer to your ideal.? (A documentary about cosmetic surgery), was awarded the BFF sponsorship prize for the best diploma theses in the field of photography in 2002. Her artistic work is mainly in the field of landscape photography; her work has been shown in numerous group and several solo exhibitions. Furthermore, Birgit Rautenberg works as a freelance photographer in Kiel in the fields of documentation, landscape and portraits.
