| Meer info | - First edition of collection of 200 important rulings of the Great Council of Mechelen between 1660 and 1712 with commentaries, composed by the Ghent jurisconsult Du Laury (ca 1650-1716) and published after his death by his disciple P.-C.-M. of Saint-Vaast. A 2nd edition was published in 1761. In the 16th century the territorial powers of the Great council included all of the Seventeen Provinces of the Netherlands. After the Eighty Years' War, the Dutch Republic became independent. In the Northern Netherlands, the judicial power was taken over by the provincial council and the Supreme court of Holland, Zeeland and West-Friesland (1582). The Great Council of Mechelen remained active in the remaining Southern Netherlands. OCLC 65398770. |
