| Meer info | The Marble Industry Board of New York is a Professional Association that was founded in 1962 with the goal of promoting the MARBLE Industry. A wonderful marketing coup, among it's 1962 work was donating a new (marble) mantel for the White House State Dining Room. "The mantel was a gift of both the architecture firm Steinmann, Cain & White and the Marble Industry Board of New York." as noted in the JFK library archives, and dated June 1962. President Kennedy thanked the architectural firm and the Marble Industry board at it's installation - a copy of his speech is included with this book. This trade catalogue and marketing piece has nice production values - color plates of various marbles in a large enough format that they could be used in design work. "MARBLE, in short, represents the difference between the commonplace and distinctive good taste. The one hundred most popular types of marble found in this volume offer an unmatched selection of color and texture." It also classifies all Marbles (they defined four groups, and also size restrictions for both Domestic and Foreign material). It was prepared by the Sydney S. Baron Public Relations Corp (founded 1956 and dissolved in 1981). L.H. Philo Corporation lithographed the volume. Although it notes Volume I, we have seen no evidence that additional volumes were produced. |
