Her integrity was the first thing that I had noticed, and her beauty the second. Superfluous of magic and emotion, and I, at the beginning of a new era in my life, ready to fall in love, did just that. And day by day, as the sun rose and fell, as if innamorati from a previous life separated and reunited in this age, her spirit would call to me, and I would respond with all my love.As I documented Mexico through 35mm film, I developed a vision of an extraordinary landscape full of passion and color, lovely smells and sweet tastes, and fascinating stories and remarkable individuals.Originally coming to work in an architecture studio for 21 days, the drumming heartbeat of the urban buildings of Mexico City pulled me away from my desk and onto the streets, where the community and culture had persuaded me to stay for a little more than one year. That Sunday afternoon, my plane took off and I wasn¿t on it.Little did I know that my decision to stay in Mexico indefinitely, at the time, would come to provide me with a new place to call home, a strong and loving community, and renewed sense of hope¿that would go on to be the spring of faith I needed to continue to pursue my career in London.As a country, she exists for the many lives that continue to be nurtured from her earth, and as an ever changing landscape to be redocumented by others over the years to come; but as a spirit, she has touched me to my core, and cast the brazen mark of an undiminishable love in my heart.
