Visscher Exu"), otherwise all pages are clean and in good state, some very minor staining, second part: engraved titlepage, etchings 1-120 all present, some very minor damage to the edges of some pages, some very minor staining on certain pages, paper on board binding, considerable wear and tear to front and back, spine gone, hinges damaged and loose. Etchings by Pieter Hendricksz Schut (c.1619-after 1660), after i.a. M. MERIAN, a second edition of this collection would be published under the title "Toneel der voornaamste historien des Ouden en Nieuwen Testaments, bestaande in driehondert ses en dertig afbeeldingen" in 1733, this book would be used to educate parishioners about the old and new testament, the prophets, the life of Jesus Christ, saints and other major stories. This edition scarce. |
