| Meer info | Good. Second impression. George Murray Levick (1876 1956) was a British Antarctic explorer and naval surgeon. He accompanied Robert Falcon Scott s British Antarctic Expedition to Antarctica (1910-1913), having the role of surgeon and zoologist. He photographed extensively throughout the expedition. Levick formed part of the Northern Party and spent the summer of 1911 1912 at Cape Adare studying the Adélie penguin Pygoscelis adeliae rookery, the largest Adélie penguin colony in the world. .Levick was the first person to study a full breeding season of Adélie penguins. His ground breaking observations of the courting, mating, and chick-rearing behaviours of these birds are recorded in this remarkable book, accompanied with extraordinary photographs.Also included are short chapters on the McCormick s Skua Gull and the Emperor penguin. |
